easter 2021

Easter is just a few days away, and here’s my list of what to buy this year. Since it’s now probably too late to order some of those items online if you’d like them in time for Easter, I would suggest to visit your nearby small shop and support local this year! And if you do, please be mindful of the current restrictions. So Spring is here and I’m ready for all things floral, colourful and fun! I’ve put together a bunch of fun ideas to fill the Easter basket of your favourite people or simply to get ready for spring. Have fun shopping!

Invisible Pen: The boys have these pens and they are so much fun. You can leave mysterious notes, play Sherlock Holmes or just have fun doodling. You can get an excellent price if you buy a bunch. Maybe Peter Rabbit can use them to create a fun eggs treasure hunt on Easter morning.

Bubble machine: You know what I hate? Blowing bubbles. I absolutely hate the mess but I so love the fun. So this little machine is a dream come true. Add bubble liquid and press on. Could be fun to put one next to the pool and have a bubble pool party! Yep, let’s try it this summer!

Beaded Headband: Definitely need to order this one for myself! Perfect for all my spring outfits… and yours! So go get it now!

Night Garden Puzzle: Love this puzzle and the whimsical feeling it has. We did the octopus one in this series and we had the best time making it. We glued it and will frame it for the cottage. Maybe we need this one too. Yeah, let’s add it to the basket!

Star Wars PJ: Got these for the boys and they are AWESOME. I mean, come on, Storm trooper bunnies! It’s everything they need!

Cars Short PJ: So wish these came in larger sizes. So if you are lucky enough to still have minis at home, get this vintag-y Cars Pajama.

Bunny Robe: Every bunny needs this bunny robe.

Straw Headband: Talk about looking like spring. Would be perfect with every Easter outfits. In the basket as well!

Knit Hoodie: Softest hoodie EVER. Love the simplicity of this hoodie. Trying to get away from all the busy print and characters tees and this is the way to go. Will get it in every colour for sure!

Jelly Sandals: This brings me so far back! I remember my grandma buying me these plastic sandals back in the days. Ohhh the pain the first time you wore them!!! Hopefully, these have improve over the years! They are just too cute and would be the perfect addition to a little girl Easter basket.

Swimsuit: I always get the boys some new swimsuit for Easter. It reminds them that summer is coming and they always need a new one anyway. So it’s a win win. A necessity you buy and a gift for them!

Jellycat Blossom Bunny: I just can’t even. I’m so happy Logan still bring his bunnies everywhere. Aren’t these the cutest bunnies ever. Might just need one for myself

Razor Scooter:  The kids are tired or being in school, not playing with friends like they used to. So get them a scooter and bring them outside for some much needed sunshine and play time. Logan tried the skate park The Yard in Ottawa last week for a friend’s bday party and he had the best time. We might even get the boys some scooter lesson if soccer and baseball is cancelled this year again.

Perler Beads: QUIET TIME! Yes, as soon as I bring out the beads… it can go from total chaos to total quiet in matters of seconds. So, BUY YOURS NOW!

Star Wars Monopoly:If we wouldn’t have already 3 Monopoly games, I would absolutely get this for Liam. Actually, I just might… to feed our growing Baby Yoda addiction.

Pool Float:Talking about addiction, this one is mine and mine only. How can you not smile when you see a pool full of fun floats. We have more floats than the size of my pool but I don’t care, they’re everywhere and I just love it. Next goal: floating island for the cottage!

Bunny Waffle Maker: You have to get this so you can make magical breakfast with this adorable waffle maker. They work so great. Plus, the recipe included is delic

Bunny Slippers: I can totally see myself or your teenager girl in these bunny slippers.

Bunny mugs: And while I wear the bunny slippers from above, I also see myself drinking a latte in these amazing mugs. You never have enough coffee mugs. Another addiction I guess! Not the coffee, but the mugs.

So I want to wish everyone of you the happiest and safest Easter weekend. It will be the second Easter by ourselves but that won’t stop us from having fun and making memories! Please stay safe and try to do your part so we can get out of this and have a normal-ish summer. Cause that’s all I want right now, for things to get better so we can have a fun and relaxing summer, I need it, you need it, everyone needs it, so let’s do this. Happy Easter my friend!

a different kind of easter

So it’s Easter morning and it clearly doesn’t feel like it. The egg hunt is about to start, and although I still haven’t had my coffee yet, I can already tell you that it’s going to be one of the weirdest Easter Sunday ever…

Life is turned upside down and even if we can’t be with our family this weekend, we decided that we were still going to be celebrating.

I usually celebrate every chances I get, but this year, for Easter, things are a little different, and I wasn’t sure if I would actually do it… but guess what, no virus is gonna stop me from Easter! It’s going to involve video chatting to maintain the required physical distancing, but still, Easter is on, and I can’t wait to see my family over Zoom tonight!

Here’s a few things we’ve made the last couple of days to prepare for Easter weekend:

-Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs eggs

-Hand bunny puppets (seriously, 5 minutes crafts are the best)

-Egg carton painted flower wreath

-Bunny sugar cookie cake

-Took a thousand walks to see Easter decorations in our neighbourhood

-Read cute Easter books with the boys

We don’t have any plans today, other than the necessary Egg Hunt and our annual Chicken & Ribs Easter dinner. I might actually bake some cinnamon buns for breakfast, or it might just be Lucky Charms! Who knows!

Chicken & Ribs is a long lasting Easter tradition at my in-laws. And even if we can’t be together tonight, we are all cooking our own chicken and ribs and we’ll be eating all together via video chat. It’s in like 10 hours, and I am already wondering what I’m gonna wear. Please Easter Jesus, please don’t let me be lazy and wear my pyjama again. No, seriously, probably going to try to dress up for this one, I swear! (proooobably not gonna happen!!!)

I miss my friends, my family and everyone else in my life so much. But the best thing to do right now is to stay home and do our part. Thanks to everyone else who can’t stay home and have to go to work to do their part, we’re so thankful for all you do.

So if your plans got cancelled as well for Easter, don’t stress out about it, and don’t be sad that it’s not going to be a perfect Easter this year… just enjoy the moment and the fact that you are healthy and have a safe place to eat all of your chocolate treats and Cadbury eggs.

Stay home, stay safe, and stay healthy. Happy Easter My Lemon Drop Life family xox

easter amazon list

Easter is only a few short weeks away and being in quarantine doesn’t make shopping for our little bunnies easy. So, I’m bringing you the best AMAZON EASTER LIST you are going to find! Most of these items can be shipped with Prime in a few days. Oh, if you don’t have Prime by now, get it! You’ll get two-day shipping on mostly everything on top of Prime movies and TV Shows… because let’s face it, if you have to stay home for a month like I do, it’s not gonna take long before you’ve seen all the best Netflix has to offer! Bonus, your husband can watch Jack Ryan or Treadstone, so it’s like you got them an early Easter present! So go ahead and fill out that cart… might has well add extra chocolate at the end, because you will NEED it at one point in the next few weeks! Hoppy shopping!

1. Instax: Still can’t get enough. Even if we have 2 in our house, I’m thinking I need one too!

2. Bunny Diffuser: You will need to diffuse lots of oil in the next little while and why not do it in Easter style. I recommend Stress Away from Young Living, especially if you have a few kids running around the house all-day.

3. Le petit lapin magique: Our favourite Easter book (there’s also one for Christmas). Only 2 books in this collection but they are so adorable. The drawings are soft and it’s a perfect gift for your little book lover. Logan loves to read this one to me… it’s the sweetest thing ever for my little bunny lover.

4. Bubble gun: I hate bubbles but the boys love them. It’s spring now, so send them outside and let them have fun. And no more sticky fingers with this bubble gun!

5. Egg Chalk: Need, need, need. We go through so much chalk over here it’s insane. These are super cute to add to your basket loot.

6. Mini scooter: Snow on the ground will soon be all gone and your young ones will love to ride this thing. So instead of giving them an easter basket, organize a treasure hunt around the house so they can find the scooter in the driveway at the end. That’s what I did 4 years ago and it was such a success.

7. Bunnies by the Bay: This one is my FAV. Logan’s bunny. We have 3 (well 5 if you count the 2 we’ve lost along the way) and he sleeps with them every night. Perfect for baby’s first Easter. The entire Bunnies by the Bay collection is awesome.

8. Sushi Go: We have this game and it’s the cutest. Fun too. Play this after diner or on the go at the restaurant. A family favourite.

9. Bunny Thermos Bottle: The cutest bottle to add to your collection.

10. Unicorn Bath Bombs: So many choices on Amazon, but I chose these because of their colors. Perfect for Easter.

11. iPhone Cable Have a teenager on that list? Get them a new cable… cause you know they are going to end up using yours. Love the Amazon Basics line. And the cable works great. I used to know because my boys (not sure which one of the 3) stole my pink one!

12. Jumpin’: We love this game. It’s not easy at all. Lots of levels for everyone to enjoy.

13. Bunny socks: Bought those a few years ago and we still wear them. Adorable, get a pair for each member of the family and then get the cutest picture.

14. How to draw Harry Potter: This item will for sure be in both boys’ basket. We’re obsessed with HP so we definitely need this. And the price is pretty awesome too!

15. Bunny Eye Mask: How cute!?! And inexpensive. Added to my cart already!

16. Mandalorian Lego: My boys can’t wait to get their hands on this set. They are obsessed… who am I kidding… I’m obsessed too!

17. IQ XOXO: Portable game. Perfect for long drives or at the restaurants. Not sure who loves it more, the boys or Brian. Great for the entire family.

18. Rainbow Stacking Blocks: I just love fun toys for babies that are durable and can be used forever. This set would be a great add to any baby basket.

19. Eggs Are Everywhere: Love a great book with awesome pictures. I’m sure you do too!

20. Meri Meri Bunny Pouch: God I need one for myself. Enough said!

easter

A week later, I’d say that we’re still recovering from Easter weekend and ALL the food we ate… and a new weekend just begun where we have two trips scheduled to the Sugar Shack!!! Omg, if I die this weekend, I will definitely not die hungry.

So last weekend was a rough one… and not because of over-excited kids due to chocolate cause they barely ate any! Nope, it was just an exhausting, but still fun, long weekend. I am just glad I had Monday off!

Like I mentioned in my last post, we have LOTS of traditions on Easter weekend. We always over-schedule and forget to include quiet and nap time. Well, this year was no different! It all started on Good Friday when we left the house to go shopping in Montréal. We dropped the kids at my Mom’s, pick-up Jojo and headed to Montréal for brunch and shopping. We (well I), had plan to have brunch at Café Ricardo, truly the highlight of my weekend!!! What a beautiful place. Bright, beautifully decorated and a dessert show-case to make you drool. And that, we did! I could talk about the place for hours… everything matches, the color scheme is dreamy and the food was visually perfect and so tasteful. Wish I live closer, but I`ve heard through the vines that Ottawa may get their own Café Ricardo in 2019. If that happens, I want a membership card or something. So sign me up, buttercup!

We then ventured to the shopping part of our trip. Browsed through the Ricardo boutique, bought some cute stuff while coming out with a long wish list. Then, like everyone else in town, we headed out to the shopping mall. So crowded, so loud, so many people, at that point, I regretted not sleeping in and staying home that morning! Did manage to buy a few things but we were all too tired to kept on shopping. So we drove back to our hometown, picked-up the boys and headed to the annual Good Friday fish/egg/fries/poutine but NO meat diner at Lulu’s! Not sure when was the last time we had so much fun… we played a music game and let’s just say the competition was extreme… but my team won and we had a blast, so that’s all that counts!!!! Got home so late, with my three companions sleeping most of the way back, then unloaded the car and past out for a few hours.

But for a second off day in a row, there was no sleeping in for us… a bright and early Easter Egg Hunt was waiting for the boys (that I had planned the night before at 12:30 am). There`s something sooo exciting and fun about cheap plastic colored eggs! The kids love it, and I love it… so we opted to give the boys a bit of money instead of chocolate or candy and they were quite excited about it, and didn’t lost any time to put it in their own piggy bank for our next trip! Then they received their actual Easter basket, stocked with pj’s, books, bubbles and treats. The boys spent a few hours playing Egg Hunt on their own, which was so fun to watch. I swore to them and I’ll swear to you that I had hidden the same number of eggs for both of them, yet, Logan got 9 and Liam got 10. That created a bit of chaos, but in the end, we gave him the extra loonie since it’s all going in the same pot; our Disney Cruise pot!

We later left home and drove to the Beau’s All-Natural Brewery to fill-up Brian’ own Easter basket with his own favorite treats, and then headed out to my Mom’s for dinner; which turned out to be quite the evening actually! Logan is obsessed playing bingo, and yes, we played all evening long. Let’s just say that if you combine bingo and beers, it ends up as being an extremely hilarious game! We laugh so much and in the end, we even all won prizes! My mom has bought a lots of toys from the dollar store to give out as prizes for bingo games with the kids, but this time around, knowing she’d be playing with grown-ups as well, she had bought some stuff for adults too… so we all ended up winning some oven mitts, which made up for some splendid Instagram live stories we all want to forget! Once the kids were in bed, Brit, Alyssa, Brian and I ended up in the spa for what seem to be like a good two hours, right before ordering pizza at midnight… probably not the best idea but it was for sure a delicious one! Let’s just say Easter Sunday was rough for a few of us… yeah, Brian’s Easter basket was all empty by the morning!

We did manage to have a loud and crazy brunch with all the grandkids reunited… sugar was still running high while patience was starting to run low. We all survived and then packed up the car, made another stop at Lulu’s, then at Pépère’s, and then at my mother-in-law for our annual chicken and ribs Easter dinner. Great dinner, great time, but after three days on the go, I couldn’t wait to be back home and enjoy a long night sleep in my own bed with finally a chance to sleep in.

Monday was for pajama’s, movies, naps, while also hiding all the chocolate we had brought home. Made zero attempt to get anything done beside meals and I was ok with that!

So now, we are all impatiently waiting for spring to arrive, trying not to eat the hidden chocolate… so this week, I got the boys registered for soccer and swim lessons, while waiting for the next long weekend, which for me happens to be next weekend… as I am leaving home for 4 days for our annual girls’ spa weekend getaway! But first, let’s start by enjoying this weekend. Hope it’s a good one for you too my friends!

somebunny is ready for easter

If you’re like me, you probably have tons of activities and brunches and dinners scheduled this weekend! Traditions, traditions and some more traditions for Easter weekend!

It will all start with our annual shopping day in Montreal with Jojo, followed by a fish filled dinner at Brian’s aunt Lulu (no fish for me but extra poutine please!) for Good Friday. Then we have our Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning… like most of you with kids! We will then have brunch at my Mom’s on Sunday followed by our usual and traditional Chicken n’ Ribs dinner at my mother-in-law’s… yummy, like simply delicious! It’s always such a great weekend for us, filled with family time and good food. If you ever find some spare time this weekend, I’ve got one more thing for you to add to your list: go see a movie! Yes, the Peter Rabbit movie!

We went to see Peter Rabbit at the movies back in February and we’ll definitely try to squeeze another viewing this weekend. I can’t remember when was the last time we all laugh this much! This movie is hilarious, emotional, fun and adorable. If you’d ask Liam about the movie, he’d tell you right away that this is the funniest movie ever. Of course we had to find the stuffed animal version of Peter Rabbit after we saw the movie… and guess what, it wasn’t too hard to find as they NOW sell these right there at the theatre… so we got out of the movie and a minute later my stuffed-animal-obsessed kids saw the Peter Rabbit stuffed animal display… yep, they both got one! But they were so cute, I didn’t mind, and I almost got one for myself!

So of course when we came back home we had to celebrate our love for rabbits, so just like any normal family, we had a Peter Rabbit Day the following day! My kids REALLY love when we have themed days, and so do I. Like last weekend, we had a McQueen Sunday; you know, they woke up and decided that today was all about McQueen. So I went along and organized a Cars day; nothing fancy, but we wore our Cars’ t-shirts all day, played with our Cars’ toys, watched the last movies with Cruz Ramirez and Jackson Storm (once more!!!), made some crafts with Cars stickers and had a lot of fun!

So for our PR Day we made carrot soup, carrot muffins, individual veggies and dips, and then we ate mini chocolate bunnies! I’ve also tried to make -for the first time- some bunny shaped cream puffed filled with ice cream and drizzled with milk chocolate! Hummmm… hello delicious rabbit, I could easily eat ten of you! You can find the recipe in Ricardo’s latest magazine and on his website. Much easier to do than I thought it would be, and so so good! I will be making this recipe again and again from now on! You should really try to make some this weekend. One recipe and endless possibilities; but the bunny shape stole my heart!

So I hope you get to spend time with your loved ones this weekend. Whatever you do, make time to enjoy life and each other. Eat lots of chocolate and go see the Peter Rabbit movie! Hoppy Easter my lemon drop life disciples (hope I didn’t offend anyone with that one!).

fill up those easter baskets

It’s FINALLY Spring and Easter is just around the corner! So bring me all the floral, pastel and cute bunny stuff you can find. I’ve got a bunny-obsessed little boy over here and he’s been waiting for our annual Easter egg hunt in what seems like forever. I’ve never pretended there was actually a real Easter Bunny, they perfectly know I’m the one who hides the goodies, and I am okay with that, and I am pretty sure they are okay as well! So we never had that crazy picture of our kids crying while sitting on an plush costume covered person for Easter (yet, I took many many pictures of everything else Easter related, though!).

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been searching for the perfect treats to give the boys for Easter, and I can’t help but to share with you what I’ve found. I also found some stuff for the men in your life, and of course, for yourself as well! So let’s start with the shop hunt!

1. Snuggle Bunny Wrap: If you have a baby, PLEASE buy this and send me all the pictures… Wish I had this when the boys were babies… my ovaries are crying over this!

2. Kids Bunny Reading Socks: So I’m still obsessed with reading socks… I only have a pair myself and now I totally have to get these for the boys basket. They are the softest and comfiest reading socks in the world. I promise.

3. Flower Hair Pins: For the little girls in your life, these are the prettiest! Pretty sure some adults could pull them off too!

4. Starbucks Stanley Mug: This would be a great find for any coffee lover in your life. You could also add a small gift card or make a coffee related basket. Coffee beans, dollar store hand painted mugs by the kids, special raw sugar and a cute Lindt Gold Chocolate Bunny!

5. Sweet Bake Shop: This one, well I really hope it ends up in my basket! I’ve been following Tessa’s journey on Instagram and I’m in love with everything she does. Hope I could recreate 5% of what she does! She’s amazing.

6. Dash Rapid Egg Cooker: I might have to by myself this item. First of all, the colour is fabulous, and how cute would it be to cook eggs in this thing? I go through like 18 eggs a week for egg salad sandwiches for the lunches, so this would probably be the smartest investment of the year! Plus, the kids could also decorate some warm eggs with wax crayons I’ve been eyeing on Pinterest and then eat them. Food and craft, perfect mix for keeping them entertained for a while and then feeding them!

7. Pom Pom Throw: So now that the eggs are cooking in my new Dash Rapid Egg Cooker, I now have more time to wrap myself in this gorgeous blush coloured throw blanket, sit on the couch and possibly take a nap. Honestly, can one have too many blankets? Just need to have a pretty large Easter basket to fit this gift into!

8. Bunnies by the Bay: My fav bunny. My Logan’s bunny. Logan received his first Bunnies by the Bay bunny on his first Easter. We now have 3 (bought five, lost two). Not sure how he could survive even one day without his Bunnies. Love everything from this company. Go check them out, all their stuff is pretty amazing!

Another must for all the Easter baskets I will be making is some delicious chocolate from Chocolats Favoris. I am not sure if you still remember our artsy Easter chocolate decorating afternoon we had last year; well the boys do, and they still talk about how fun it was. So I will get them some more chocolate as well as a few paint brushes so they can decorate their own treat again! You still have time to buy yours from their website, but hurry!

Let’s hope the weather warms up soon so we can get to play outside during Easter weekend; as egg hunting is so much more fun outside! Hope you found a bit of eggspiration with my list; so happy shopping and happy springtime my friends!

easter, we’re ready for you

I am so ready for the extra-long weekend that Easter brings!  We always have a jam-packed weekend, and this year if no different.  Shopping on Good Friday with Jojo, followed by a no-meat-family-dinner at Lulu’s with fish, omelets and poutine!  On Saturday we’re celebrating Easter at my Mom’s with a nice Prime Rib, and Sunday is our annual Chicken N’ Rib feast at Brian’s mom.

The boys are ready to have a few days off, and so am I.  They’re anxious for the Egg Hunt on Saturday and all the chocolate they’re about to eat this weekend (and so am I!)

So here’s a few pictures of a few dessert options for this weekend.  Easy, fun and delicious!  My boys love to bake with me, and they love all the icing colors and sprinkle; cupcake decorating is one of their favorite things to do in the kitchen!  Must be because they get to eat so much sugar while doing it!

As much as I love chocolate, I try to mix it up when it comes to the Easter Basket; and the boys already get so much chocolate from others at Easter.  I always get them summer stuff, like Crocs or shoes, pj’s, books or movies, and of course one candy.  I also try to make one for my husband, so I guess this year he knows what he’s having: Beau’s beer, t-shirt and chocolate!  Maybe I should post here what I want in my basket?!!

So, what’s your favorite Easter tradition?  And your favorite Easter treat?

Remember to have fun this weekend, to spend time with your family, and to drive safe.  Happy Easter everyone!

easter edible art

I would have loved this activity as a child.  I saw the ad online two weeks ago and within minutes I had recruited my cousins for an afternoon of fun with our kids.  Two words and they we’re hooked; Chocolats Favoris!

Two amazing things put together: Easter and Chocolats Favoris… marketing GENIUS.  Either online or in store, you can pick out everything you need for this great Easter activity.

Véro picked out the chocolate for everyone in advance, but it would be even more fun to bring your kids to the store and let them pick out their favorite one, and of course, have an ice cream cone while you’re there!  The prices were very reasonable, with an average of 12$-15$ per child.  An outing, a craft and delicious chocolates!  A win for everyone.  Once you have chosen your favorite mold, you pick out a chocolate color palette and voilà, you’re ready to go!

I would recommend a disposable tablecloth, which we didn’t use!  We ended up scrapping off chocolate off my table for ever!

We melted the color palettes in escargot dishes, best idea, because in a plate I would think that the colors would run together…  Within 5 minutes, the 5 kids were busy painting.  We thought it would last two minutes, but surprisingly, they were entertained for over 25 minutes.  They loved it!

I loved that each kids had their own chocolate palette and did whatever they wanted with it.  They were mixing the colors as they felt; you can really see their personality in their work!  Some were really expressive while painting!

It dries really quickly, so you can pile-up paint on paint on paint without ending up with the same color all over your chocolate.  But of course, by the end, there was chocolate paint everywhere.  Liam loved it so much he was licking the table while Jacob and Logan were eating the paintbrushes!  All resisted eating their work of art.  This activity was even more successful than expected.

I’m probably going to do this again before Easter, since it was such a great creative activity (but next time I’m getting one for myself for sure!).  My favorite masterpiece was Logan’s!  It almost looked like a piece of art I would buy.  Finally, the artsy side of my boys is coming out!

I’m pretty sure these will fly of the shelves of Chocolats Favoris stores.  So grab one and run!  All these pretty colors sure made me ready for Spring; so be ready to be flooded with Easter and Spring posts in the next little while.  Cause although I just spent an amazing March break at the cottage with Brian and the boys, tubing and snowshoeing with cold nights and fireplace, I can say that I’m pretty much done with winter for this year and ready for Spring… and so will you once you do this fun family activity!
